To what extent do you think that public sector salaries need to be competitive with the private sector?

The public sector jobs all have GREAT retirement benefits along with good health, dental, etc.  In fact, public sector jobs are better than private because you get paid better, can't get fired and government backed.  Teaching was the best but will fade out because of the N.E.A. union.  Their union will destroy them as it has the auto, steel, and paper industries in this country.
