  1. Nasser thought his country and his allies could  wipe out the Infant Israel with little resistance. His ego was bigger than his strategy.

  2. Nasser was surely ambitions politician. He was an Arab nationalist, who dreamed of liberating & uniting all Arab countries from Morocco on the Atlantic Ocean to Oman on the Persian Gulf. He was preparing for a war with Israel. This is why Israel preemptively struck & started the war in 1956. Nasser restarted his plan of modernizing the Egyptian army but tension increased again in 1967. Although the Egyptian army wasn’t as ready Nasser escalated the situation to prevent loosing credibility as the hero of the Arabs. Israel preemptively struck again & won the Six Day War.

Nasser was an enemy to the Islamic fundamentalists. He suppressed them with an iron fist. Probably this is how he contributed to the rise of terrorism. Each action has a reaction. Since he used excessive force against the Islamists (including many moderate reformers), many Islamists figured he’s a tyrant & they can’t earn their rights or freedom unless they used as much force.

  3. Not at all.

We now know from US sources that the Six Day War was instigated by Israel to wipe out the arab air forces before they could retaliate.

This is why the Israelis attacked the US Liberty which was collecting military data in the Red Sea and killed a lot of the crew.

Nasser was a nationalist not an Islamic fundamentalist
