I think it is modern, or post modern.  I read somewhere that the organic shape (soft, flowing) it has is currently internationally popular and the current trend in achitecture.  In Dubai I was told that it inspired the organic shapes of the 6 star hotel in Dubai (the one that is shaped like a sail, out in the ocean).

  5. The Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most distinctive 20th century buildings. It is one of the most famous venues in the world for theatre shows and other performance art shows. The building was designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon and the consulting engineering firm Ove Arup & Partners.  The modern design was a winning entry from a total of 233 entries from 32 countries in a competition held in 1955. The Opera House was officially opened by the Queen in 1973. Because of its unique architecture, the Sydney Opera House was made a UNESCO heritage site in 2007.
