Just came back from San Siro from watching AC Milan - Bologna, which ended 1-2.
I can already see people who watched it coming up with clueless ideas. Let me put in perspective what I saw from the game:
Abbiati: Needs more work. Not really at fault on the second goal, a great shot in the second half.
Defense: Good Zambrotta, very good in fact. Static the centre backs on the first goal but considering Maldini is 40 I was actually impressed.
Midfield:
Flamini is one of the best buys of the season. He was everywhere, ran like a maniac, winning balls a làGattuso but then has good feet so great passing and work rate. Ancelotti stupidly puts him as right back in the second half but performs well nevertheless, however his midfield work now not being done.
Ambrosini: Scored the goal and won balls. No complaints.
Ronaldinho: A little static in the first half he played brilliant in the second and was dangerous. His the assist for the first goal and he was a thorn on the opposite team all game. Once he started trying to dribble the player you could see the class he still had. A tad bit too slow but for a first season game he passes in my opinion.
Seedorf: Clueless and oneof the reasons,. as well as tactical, as to why we lost. Slow in the counter attack. Slow in passing, dsnt come back to win balls, etc. A weight in the midfield.
Pirlo: Ok on the long passes and opening up for the wings, but not incisive enough on thru balls or long balls for the strikers.
Attack:
Pippo wasted a few chances. Sheva's first game in 6 months a mild sufficient but he is not what he once was, at least in this game. Pato came in too late to be incisive and made too many mistakes.
Ancelotti: Why on earth he kept Seedorf on the whole game and instead took Jankulovski off for Sheva, thus putting Flamini in defense, then put Emerson (!!!!) for Ambrosini is beyond me. Wrong tactics.
Gattuso was injured and so was Kakà.
Milan cannot play with Seedorf and Pirlo in the same team, we lose incisiveness in the midfield and Seedorf performs either c**p or very good, no in betweens, but at a ratio of 5 c**p games for one good one. It's just not goodenough. With Gattuso coming back Flamini CANNOT be put on the bench after today's performance and Seedorf should instead.
Ref: I won't go on. If you saw the match, you know what I saw and it sucked but it is NOT the reason for the loss.
Other: The strikers have all been training together with the team for the first time this past week. More work is needed to get the tactics, motions, passing, etc worked out.
First game of the season, at home, was a loss. I was there and could whinge and cry and complain about it but am not going to, no reason to to be honest. I ask for your opinion adding a final note: I just hope Milan fans weren't watching waiting to be proven right on their critics of the transfer markets and if they were realize this: It was not the new players that were bad except maybe Sheva. Seedorf, Pirlo, Inzaghi n Pato were the weak links together with Carletto's tactics and substitutions, and a lil ref help which needs to ALWAYS be accounted for and cannot be an excuse.
Over to you.
Forza Milan, non ti lasceremo mai.
