  1. nope

  2. No it cannot.

  3. As long as you are NOT using a glass bowl to boil the water. The heat coils in the oven will overheat the Pyrex or Corning ware and it will explode.

Use a metal container and preferably one without a plastic handle.

So many problems for a simple thing...why not use a microwave or stovetop?

  4. If you can fit the pan it there and if you are using an oven safe container or pan to heat it in I don't see why it couldn't.  Guess it depends on how hot yours is capable of getting.   No plastic!

If you're trying to make tea, etc., and you're wanting to use the toaster oven because that's all that's available - why not an electric tea pot or a heating element that you can drop in a cup and heat the water in seconds with?

I'd make sure the toaster oven were fairly clean - otherwise you'll get the flavor of whatever was cooked last in your water.

You might also want to wipe it down after so the moisture doesn't make it nasty in there.

  5. It will if you leave it on long enough, but it would use more energy than the MW. A cup of water will boil in 2 minutes, the oven will still be heating up in that time.

  6. A toaster oven _might_ be able to boil water but it would take an extremely long time.

Why not just use the mickey or stovetop?

EDIT: the toaster oven will release a lot more heat and use a lot more energy for 30 minutes or more to do the same job that the microwave oven can do in 3 or 4 minutes.
