Tobias Kamke ousts Jerzy Janowicz in the quarter-finals – Mons Challenger 2012 CH
Fourth seeded, Tobias Kamke, defeated his Polish rival, Jerzy Janowicz, in the quarter-finals of the Mons Challenger 2012 held at the hard courts of Belgium. He consolidated his straight sets win, 6-3, 6-3, in nearly one hour and
16 minutes on Friday.
The 26-year-old, Kamke, entered in the opener with a strong resolve to clinch the lead. Fortunately, he preserved his high spirits to sustain his intensity until the end. Initially, Janowicz levelled down the score line to 2-all
in the fourth game but he proved insignificant after that point. Kamke took a flying start and laid down a remarkable foundation in the sixth game. He cashed away all the game without facing any hindrance and gleefully concluded the set with a 6-3 score line.
The eighth seeded Pole, Janowicz, took off a comparatively weaker start of the second set. The German professional took note of the opportunity and clinched the initial two, stamping a 2-love lead by the end of the second game.
He swiftly progressed and maintained an upper hand the entire time. Janowicz proved to be immobile in front of his competitor, who simply cashed in most of the opportunities, without any facing any trouble. In the eighth game, the Polish professional broke
his rival’s serve but could not receive a break through. Kamke quickly jumped forward and terminated the set with his 6-3 win.
Ranked 71st in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Kamke, fired three aces but could merely clobber 53 percent first serve share as compared to his rival, who clinched away 72 percent. He maintained his lead by securing 25
of 31 first and 15 of 27 second delivery points in the match. Further, his lead strengthened when capitalized on all four of the serve breaks presented to him. The Polish junior attacked his opponent with seven aces and converted 24 of 38 first but only four
of 15 second delivery points. He lagged behind because he received only one of the seven break points.
For the next match, the German participant will combat the Frenchman, Kenny de Schepper. He is in excellent run of form and previously gave the local challenger, Maxime Authom a straight set defeat 7-5, 7-6(5).
