Tobias Kamke wins with a bagel; defeats Alejandro Falla in 1st round – Winston-Salem Open 2011
Former world No.58, Alejandro Falla had the beating of his life playing his 1stround against the 25-year-old German, Tobias Kamke. Playing each other the second time, the two battled out the 1st rounder of
the Winston-Salem Open 2011 on the hard courts of Wake Forest University in Winston, USA on Sunday, 21st August.
The ATP Tour 250 event went off at twelve noon with the two battling out for the 2nd round seat.
Ranked at world No.92, Tobias Kamke has been a low rider all along. Playing at most of the tours this year, the German has been not been much successful. Travelling south after losing his 1stround match at the 2011 Rogers
Cup, Kamke entered the Winston Open to try his luck on the hard court.
Falla, the 27-year-old Columbian, could not make it up after his amazing run at the French Open. Losing to Juan Ignacio Chela in the 4th round, Falla went down in all of the following events never making it to the 2nd round.
The Columbian seems more of a moody player. Seemingly sometimes the 27-year-old plays outstandingly otherwise collapses immediately. The same happened when he went on against the German in the 1st round match of the
Winston Open 2011.
Blowing up the first whistle, the Columbian took charge rolling up the score cards 1-0 as he won the opening game. Following his rival, Kamke took out the lead to level the scores and switch the serve, 1-1. The match opened up
the instant when the 25-year-old German broke Falla in game 3 and won game 4 to lead 3-1 in the match.
Kamke then repeatedly broke the Columbian, mixing up top spins with backhands and net plays. Winning back-to-back games, the 25-year-old pulled off with the first set winning 6-1 and onto the next set.
The 27-year-old realized, after the second set beating, that he had certainly played better in the first. Serving to open the second set, the German had planned a worse scenario to end with. Winning game 1, Kamke broke in the second
set to lead 2-0.
Kamke went off like a bomb on the Columbian winning back-to-back games and not giving away a single game out of his hands. Breaking the 27-year-old 3 times in set 2, the world No.92 won the second set beating the Columbian with
a bagel.
The 59 minutes run by the German left Falla with nothing but humiliation to look on. Winning with a superb finish, Kamke now moves on in the second round of the Winston-Salem Open 2011.
