The Belgian stopper has long been linked with the Spurs, and the Ajax Amsterdam boss has now further fuelled speculations that the Belgian stopper would be joining the English Premier League outfit after the end of the
season.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has mooted all speculations regarding Toby Alderweireld’s expected move to join Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming winter transfer market.
However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player has indicated that the Belgian stopper could join the English Premier League outfit before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.
The Spurs successfully managed to lure http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814 to White Hart Lane from De Joden earlier this year in the summer transfer market. The highly-rated central defender took no time in adjusting with the pace of the English
top flight, and has already managed to put in couple of brilliant performances for the Lilywhites.
Andre Villas-Boas, Tottenham boss, has been extremely impressed with Vertonghen’s thus far showings, and has now set his sights on acquiring the services of Alderweireld to further strengthen his side’s back-line.
Although, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 coach was looking to lure the Amsterdammers centre-back to White Hart Lane in the January transfer market, it seems like he will have to wait until the end of the ongoing season to acquire the Belgian
international’s signature.
“That's maybe something for next year. I think he'll end this season at Ajax”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch mentor went on to reveal that his side does not intend to let go of their prized asset in the upcoming winter transfer window, but has admitted that the club will sell the central defender if an extremely lucrative offer
comes in.
“We're very happy with him and don't want to let him go in the winter, unless it's a super transfer [fee], but I don't think that will happen”, De Boer concluded.
Alderweireld, who has thus far played over 100 games for the Amsterdam giants since making his debut in the 2008/09 season, has an ongoing contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
