Toby Booth: No move for Gavin Henson
London Irish has become the latest club to rule out a move for Ospreys player Gavin Henson.
Head coach Toby Booth says there is a less than one percent chance Henson will link up with the Exiles. This now means that every Premiership club in London has ruled out making a move for the Welshman.
Booth said: "I've had no contact on that front. The situation is pretty clear from our point of view. It is not us doing Gavin Henson a favour. It would be my decision, but we haven't held a conversation
about it. There is less than a one percent chance."
Henson has publicly stated that he is looking for a move to England's capital. His options are now fast running out and the future is looking very bleak for the Welsh star.
Running out of options
Henson wants a move to London because he feels it will help him fall back in love with the game. However, if he does want a move away from Ospreys then it will have to be to an area that won't be his first
choice as it's clear big clubs are reluctant to gamble on him.
Henson is hugely out of touch with the game. He has not played a competitive game for Ospreys since March 2009. Rugby has moved on and the standard is now far better, suggesting Henson will struggle if
he comes back at Premiership level.
London Wasps, Harlequins and London Irish have all ruled out a move for him because these clubs already have fantastic squads. The Premiership season has started and these sides are focusing on contracted
players that will make the difference this year.
Booth added: "We haven't spoken to him, and I don't expect to speak to him. We haven't considered it."
Betting advice
With the big three London clubs now out of the equation, it's a mystery as to where Henson could end up. Ignore any special bets linking the Welshman to the South East. However, he could be a very productive
points scorer at a lower quality club in England.
