Toby Flood close to new Leicester Tigers deal
Leicester Tigers fly half Toby Flood is close to agreeing a new deal that will keep him with the Premiership champions.
Rumours have been circulating within the media that there could be problems within the Leicester camp over the contract, but Flood has since insisted that the matter has been held up due to discussions
over personal terms and games.
"We are in negotiations. We are there or thereabouts but there are a couple of things to tie down. Being serious
it's 99 per cent there and I feel comfortable here in terms of how we want to proceed and how we want to play," he said.
Flood is one of the most important players in the rugby club and it's very important for Leicester's chances of success that he stays. The club should be willing to offer
him whatever he likes.
An important player
Flood scores a lot of points with his kicking, which often keeps Leicester in games. He scored six penalties and a drop goal during the 21-15 win over Bath at the weekend,
which shows this part of his game is vital.
He's a very creative player in the middle of the pitch. Flood has the ability to look up and make a defence splitting pass in a split second. He can also chip the ball
forward with his kicking to start an attack or to gain territory.
Flood's fitness and experience are improving all the time. This means he has a better chance of being consistent as a player. This will keep him effective and ensures that
he should be able to hold down a regular place at Leicester for as long as he is in the club.
The club needs to get this matter tied down and dealt with as soon as possible. Speculation can threaten to unsettle a player at any stage in contract talks.
Betting advice
Don't hesitate for a second in backing Flood to be the top points scorer in Leicester this season. Also back him to score points and do well on a game to game basis. This
provides the perfect opportunity to make the most of his consistency.
