Toby Tyler seeking victory in the Racing Again On Easter Monday Handicap at Redcar on 2nd April
Redcar is to become home for the Class 4 Come Racing Again On Easter Monday Handicap, to be raced over six furlongs, on Monday, 2nd April. The line-up assembled for the race includes fifteen runners.
Not everyone on the lineup has raced at Redcar before but Toby Tyler, Best Of The Bests’ six-year-old bay gelding, out of mare Pain Perdu.
He won the Roy Welsh Birthday Handicap on 1st September, 2011, at Redcar, over six furlongs.
The victory did not come easy as Toby Tyler had to snatch it away from the 4/1 joint favourite, Ingleby Arch, who was threatening the winner, shy by a mere neck’s margin.
Sea Salt was the third entry to finish the race behind the runner-up.
The other joint favourite, Captain s****., ended up sixth in a line-up of nine.
Toby Tyler then won the Oddschecker.Com Handicap (Division I) at Newcastle on 11 October, over six furlongs. He was at a half length’s margin from the runner-up of the race, Chookie Royale.
Settling into the third spot was Cross Of Lorraine.
The 11/2 joint favourites, Beckermet and Dancing Maite, finished ninth and twelfth on the field of fourteen.
Toby Tyler’s seasonal debut was more of a disaster as he finished eighth in a lineup of nine, in the “Champion Hurdle Free Bets With Freebetting.Co.UK” Handicap, on 13th March at Southwell, over six furlongs.
The race was won by Caldercruix, while Punching settled into the runner-up position, and coming at terms with ending third was Close To The Edge.
The 7/2 favourite of the race, Joe Le Taxi, concluded the race seventh.
The last time Toby Tyler raced at Redcar, he won.
He is again getting a chance to perform there in his second start of the season, and he would no doubt want to make the most of it.
This time he will not be riding with P. J. McDonald, with whom he won at Redcar, rather he will get paired with Micky Fenton, a partnership that proved successful at Newcastle.
Another entry that got placed third at Redcar last season was the eight-year-old Hamoody. He was third in the Weatherbys Bank Handicap on 31st May at Redcar, over five furlongs.
He may turn out to be a potential threat for Toby Tyler.
