Toby’s Corner and Royal Currier to head a field of 8 in the LeVine Memorial Handicap
The seven furlong long $150,000 Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap has reeled in 8 older horses, and among them is Graham Motion trained 4-year-old colt, Toby’s Corner, and Patricia Farro trained 4-year-old gelding, Royal Currier, as both of them head the field
at Parx Racing on 23 June, 2012.
Both Toby’s Corner and Royal Currier will have a point to prove and live up to their favourite tag in the Donald LeVine Memorial Handicap, because both of them are coming off seventh place finishes in their respective starts.
Dianne D. Cotter’s Toby’s Corner is exiting a seventh place finish in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special Stakes at about 1 3/16 miles at Pimlico on 18 May, 2012, to winner Alternation, who topped the distance in 1 minute and 57.60 seconds and defeated Nehro in
second and Endorsement in third on the way.
It was Toby’s Corner third start of the new season, and he is yet to land a single race.
The son of Bellamy Road started the 2012 season with a run in the seven furlong long Grade 2 General George Stakes at Laurel Park on 20 February, 2012.
Yawanna Twist defeated This Ones for Phil in second and Toby’s Corner in third to take the General George Stakes in 1 minute and 22.38 seconds.
Toby’s Corner finished third yet again, this time in his second start of the season – the Grade 2 New Orleans Handicap.
Over a distance of 1 1/8 miles at Fair Grounds Race Course on 1 April, 2012, Nates Mineshaft romped past his opponents to win it in 1 minute and 47.64 seconds, as Mission Impazible finished second.
MAT Stables owned Royal Currier has started more than Toby’s Corner this year, and has been more successful than his LeVine Memorial Handicap rival.
The Florida bred son of Red Bullet is exiting a seventh place finish in the Grade 2 True North Handicap to winner Caixa Eletronica at Belmont Park going over a distance of 6 furlongs.
Bred by Adena Springs South, Royal Currier won a Starter Handicap at Aqueduct and then downed the Diablo Stakes at 6 furlongs over the Big Sandy dirt track.
