Question:

Today's society disconnected from nature?

Maybe I'm wrong, but It seems our society is growing further away from nature and the outdoors. I'm not saying people should be out backpacking through the woods all day or become some tree hugger or something. Just in general, people seem to be losing respect for animals and nature. I enjoy all the modern technology as much as you do but I always felt you have to get back to something more fundamental sometimes. What do you think?

  1. I do agree with you.

Its sad when people don't respect the forest and cut down beautiful tree because of the almighty$$$.

Because of the $$ priority there is more stress.  Because everyone wants every thing at a faster pace..more stress.

Because one cannot just be..  do nothing and admire nature, rivers, sunsets, sunrises birds some people have their priorities wrong.

Doing that actually makes you think of what is important and focus.

To be just busy for busy sake...is ridiculous.  It doesn't mean you are lazy, or idle. It probably means you can enjoy things that are FREE, things you don't have to pay for...

So appreciating nature can be very fulfilling for those of us who can enjoy the wonders of the world.

Since everyone is different, it takes us nature lovers to slow down and show other how to.

  2. when the time comes, natures own devices will re-establish the balance. it happens with natural disasters all the time. it is a war, and the more casualties we suffer the better the world is for it.

a balance can only be reached when the people are in agreement to do so, and if that requires less people then it will be so. nature is not a mindless occurrence, it is a force that has given us life... and our disrespect for it will come at a price

  3. I totally agree with you.  I find the whole thing perplexing....I have friends who claim to be really religious...and they go to church all the time...and claim to be really serious about being connected to god..but than they toss their trash out of the window...or throw it on the ground..and it drives me crazy.  I don't understand how you can say..you love god but destroy the very earth that he (or she - for the politically correct) created.  I have a son...and it is easy to instill in them a love of nature and a respect for nature.  It's funny how kids will do this...he still remembers when I seen what appeared to be a box in the middle of the road...something instinctively told me to stop and it turned out to be a turtle that was too scared to move...well...I go out of my car (much to the dismay of the people behind me) and moved him out of the road.  Sometimes it makes me sad that people are so arrogant and forget that we share this planet.  I am a tree hugger....I pick up litter from the side of the road...I recycle everything..and I teach my son a balance.  I love seeing things in their natural habitat..in their natural state..its unfortunate that not alot of people do.  I always wonder..100 years from now..when most of us are gone..what will the generation be left with...how will this planet look..and change...I don't know...but I have my fingers cross (and I will hug a few more trees in the process)

  4. You are right. As much as people might love nature or like beautiful scenery and stuff, the fact of the matter is that we have so much comfort and convenience at our disposal now that it becomes difficult to tear away from it and explore nature. To do that, it takes commitment and the will and love for nature, enough to let go of your materialist routine and just take some time off.

I also like the point you make about animals. I'm shocked out of my wits when an animal is abused or killed on the road or because of something stupid that us, humans did; they say, don't over react, it was just an animal, so many people die everyday like this, they get into accidents, get raped, murdered. Does that make it ok? For humans OR animals to die? Just because we have become used to all this, does that make it allright?

  5. yeah it is. that's why we have our salvation through guys like Chris McCandless. that guy is awesome, man.

  6. Such is the price of progress.  In my opinion its worth the cost.

  7. That's a good point. Read Fahrenheit 451 - it's got lots of that - distopia.

  8. yes, very.

  9. I agree and I love nature - since there is such an overpopulation of people now it's hard to get to it anymore. It's sad :(

  10. I feel personally that the more 'advanced' people get with technology, society, fashion, entertainment etc the more ignorant they become of nature. Compared with other animals we have hardly any natural instinct.

I'm Wiccan so I feel a deep love and yearning for nature. In this world it is difficult to balance between being really into nature and being in the modern world.

It infuriates and frustrates me that peopl don't seem to care that animals and wildlife are becomming endangered.

  11. I would say that's a fair assessment.  I actually think about that often myself.  I love nature, but truthfully nature in Europe and America does not exist anymore- everything is controlled.

Man has become so consumed with the notion of "control" that he seeks to control even nature, through his national and state parks... The populations deer, birds, and bear are all regulated- even in so called "natural parks"

Even environmentalists are guilty of trying to control nature- no longer is nature allowed to run its course, in which animals go extinct... today man tries to intervene and "save them".

I'm not some whacko tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination, but I too wish that we could return to a more simpler time where man and nature co-existed but those days are long passed!

  12. it all in the person

  13. no

  14. well, i enjoy all d modern gadgets...but at d same time like 2 spend sometime wid nature daily...nd i feel tht these days ppl are more aware of nature ...but d pblm is they don't act cuz "they hv no time" or they feel tht "smbdy else might do it".but these days cuz of overpopulation,v hv 2 make adjustments 2 certain extends since evrybdy wants 2enjoy the latest technologies...

  15. I know what you mean. I get depressed if I cannot be around nature enough. Too many cities around here and I'm sick of it!

  16. You are not wrong.....and yes, Farenheit 451by Ray Bradberry is a supportive  book.

  17. I agree with that. We are becoming more inner city orientated, and that's just sad really... I love to go camping, it's a good way to clear my head and feel refreshed.
