  1. like a lot of horses, my tb mare likes her food wet and would actually atempt to dunk her grain! so now we just add water for her because her water bucket was getting really gross.

Also, whenever she goes to drink she always plays in the water first, splashing it around with her nose!

  2. My mare likes to help on barn projects. We are currently adding on to our barn and re-building some fences and our mare will come stick her face right in the middle of whatever you are working on. You can lead her away and she will come right back to wherever you are and get right in the middle of it. If she can reach someof the items you are working with she will steal them and put them in her stall. She has taken a hammer, a chalk line, the gate handle, and a piece of pvc pipe.

  3. My one horse does not have any front teeth so his tongue just hangs out the front :p

Another, DOES have front teeth, but when you put the bit in it sticks out the side !

And my special baby can do tricks for treats, he knows how do nod yes and no when you do it to him

like if you go "want the treat?" and nod your head up and down, he will too ! :)

And Knickers likes to turn himself around in the crossties, i dont know why ! :p

  4. My horse, Hamilton, he likes to l**k my face like a super sized Saint Bernard. He also has a great internal clock and in the mornings, he neighs so loud for his breakfast, that neighbors tell me about it and laugh...they are all nice neighbors. He only does it in the mornings.

Lincoln...he doesn't have any funny quirks yet, he's still a baby. I'm sure he'll develop some though.

Oh wait, Lincoln has one thing he really loves...his bathes. I have never seen a horse that loved to be bathed as much as he does. When I am soaping him down, he makes these grunting noises and hangs his head and licks his lips a lot! It's pretty funny. I suppose he likes his full body massages...lol =)

  5. well, mine is afraid of frogs and toads. he will buck and rear. he is also afraid of irish dancing (or any type of fast dancing) he will pin his ears back. uhmm he likes to hide in his corner of his stall (back rite)  he will always pin his ears back even when hes not angry just to test u but i no the difffernce lol he loves me hah. um hes also a very secretive horse. for example at shows he will pretend that he doenst want to drink (but u have to keep the bucket there and eventually he will) if u scratch up and down his neck he will act like he doensnt like it but in 4 min 37 seconds exactly he will stretch himself out and wiggle his lips to nuzzle u. he HATES baths and likes it wen u put the hose in his mouth but sometimes he acts like he doesnt. hes very unpredictable. dopey and slow on trails but he runs 15s in barrels i love him to death

  6. I have a monsterously large (17.2+) TB gelding who isn't bothered by anything. Never spooks at anything. Except his own shadow!

  7. Mine just cribs and pins ears when i come to catch. lol.

  8. Mine starts whinnying the minute he sees me for his carrots.  Then, he'll lay his head on my shoulder to get them.

  9. my mare thinks water will attack her. her father won't walk through water to go to his feed he hates it that much.

  10. Mine eat bananas and marshmellow peeps.

Oh, and the one grinds her teeth when she's asked to do something she doesn't like.  Even when bitless.  Yes her teeth are done (just 2 months ago, as they are annually).  It's just her quirk.

  11. One of our horses is OBSESSED with drinking straight out of the hose and another horse loves chasing our kitten around. I can't think of the others!!

  12. One of mine likes to take the hose out of the trough when I'm filling it up and swing it around in the air.

My friend's horse, who we had to put down due to EPM last month, used to clean her teeth after she ate.

We used to have a mule who would run up to us in the field and when he was about 5 feet away, turn around and back up to us so we could scratch his butt!

Most of my horses eat corn pops cereal, peppermints, skittles, those hard candies with the chewy stuff in the middle and jelly beans.  We don't give them this stuff very often, just over the years from time to time.

  13. This insn't really really a quirk but...

My pony used to unzip zippers! It was really cute because I would walk out to pasture to go get him in the middle of winter and he would unzip me. He also really liked velcro for some reason.

Oh yeah! And while I'm babbling about funny stuff the pony did.... he chewed off another pony's tail once! (Not all the way, just up to where the other pony figured out that part of his tail was missing and bit my horse.)

  14. I guess we must have sexually frustrated horses..

One gelding always lets it all hang down....while grooming, bathing, walking..people at the barn are always whispering when we walk by because there it is!!  I guess I turn him on!!  Fortunately it goes into hiding when riding!!

Then we have a mare..that always has her butt against the front rails of her stall...kinda like show and tell..tail to the side and everything.  Personally, I think she likes the vibration of the fan!!  She is such a hussy....always ready to give an anatomy lesson.. and a little butt scratch will put a smile on her face!!

  15. ahaha, mine HATES dogs. when he was growing up before i knew him, his only friends were pigs&chickens.  one day a dog came and killed the pigs, so ever since then he has hated them.  he'll charge and try to trample them if they get in like a two meter radius.  its actually pretty funny cuz when im on trail rides, pple walking there dogs always say " dont worry, he wont attack." & i always reply, "oh im not worried about your dog attacking, i worried about myhorse ! lol"

  16. He's not my horse, but hte school horse I ride, Sunshine, he bucks when I ask him to go faster when I'm cantering him. xD It's probably a bad habit, but he only does it with me, that little stinker.

    And then the pony I rode, He licks me. Yep, I'll be brushing him, he'll turn his head around and start l*****g my arm. o0;;

  17. my horse jumps like 2 meters before the jump!!!!!
