  1. After I had my wisdom teeth out, in addition to the above advice I was told to sleep on one of those Lazy boy chairs.

  2. You are already doing a lot. You should not sleep on that side from where the tooth is extracted. For 24 hours take only cold and soft diet. Donot take anything very hot and spicy. After 24 hours you can start doing warm saline rinses but do them gently.

  3. If you have a reclining chair, that's your best bet for sleeping. Keep your head elevated on pillows, and just keep yourself on the meds. and do everything the doctor told you to do, like salt water swishes later.

Good luck! Hope you feel better soon.  =]

  4. Sounds like your doing just fine!  :)

Ice will help bring down the swelling.

Advil is good for inflammation and Tylenol is good for pain....as well as pain meds (like....percocet and vicodin).

The swelling should subside in a few days, but you may be left with some bruising.

Don't rinse or make a sucking motion for 24 hrs. (atleast).  Avoid brushing as well.  This will ensure that you will not loose the blood clots and develop dry socket.

After the first 24 hrs. you can begin to eat soft foods and start to get back into your normal daily activities.

You can brush your teeth, just avoid the extraction sites.  Rinse gently after brushing.

As far as sleeping....do whatever is comfortable for you.  :)

  5. Alrighty the hard part is over now.  Now its time for the healing to begin.  Are you still bleeding at all?  It would be good tonight to go ahead and put a old towel over your pillow because you could ooz tonight.  You should also hot as well has cold compresses.  Do them for 30mins on 30mins off.  After 48 hours you can rinse (LIGHTLEY) with warm salt water, that will also help.  Just don't smoke and watch what you eat too.  Stick to the soft stuff.  NO SPICEY FOOD EITHER!  I hope this helps you.
