  1. I've had to force feed two snakes in the past because both were hatchlings that refused to eat and were close to death. With both of them it took around three times or so of this before they would finally eat on their own. One thing to look for is to make sure there's not another reason for its lack of appetite. Pythons with respiratory infections often won't eat. If you see any signs of sneezing, excessive mucus, or a whistling or popping sound while breathing, you'll need to see a vet.

I don't remember how long you said you've had this one so far, but I believe I've mentioned recently about mine having taken a while. Mine were imports, as a good percentage of bloods in the pet trade are, and were stressed out from being shipped overseas in a box. Many imports arrive here malnourished, dehydrated, and occasionally with parasites. And many of these have a hard time when it comes to feeding. It might just take a little more time to become comfortable. They like to hide, so make sure it can hide and feel secure. Again, unless it's looking real skinny, I wouldn't get too worried yet. I've had some baby snakes that went three or four months before taking their first meal.
