mX is a free daily tabloid newspaper found in Sydney and Melbourne's public transport hubs.

The front page was a picture of Kristine Davis - whoever the **** that is - on the some red carpet which three other similar aged 'wannabe' celebrities posing with her.

Meanwhile, fourth page in was a short entry in the corner of the page about the Chinese earthquake that killed thousands of people, 900 in a single school. This was headline news, but instead mX pushed it to the back. This is bull****!

This is exactly what happened for the cyclone in Burma, thousands dead, many more homeless - pushed to the back in favour of some non-news celebrity gossip.

Is this what we have come to? mX you should be ashamed.

  1. Yeah, I know and understand your frustration. The media has a lot to answer for, on so many levels. This is why I only generally watch ABC and SBS. They keep me sane by informing me what's happening in the world, without making me want to kick the television screen.

I made the stupid mistake of watching Today Tonight last week. The level of disdain they have for anyone not straight, middle class and white is astonishing. But then I watched Mediawatch on the ABC, and all in the world seemed OK again. :D

Don't lose heart, just read and watch the alternative press. It'll make you forget how many idiots give these programs (and newspaper articles) ratings!

Edit: Something you could do is write to the editor of mX, and give them your views. I know when I get angry about these things, writing or phoning the newspaper or station makes me feel a little better. Kinda like de-briefing.

    Just a thought.
