  1. happy birthday .....now i would never take a look at on of those . always look at brand tvs . they are more expensive but they last longer and are going to spend $250 on a tv that will last you 3 years , or a $300 - $550 on a tv that will last you much longer and is a bigger and better screen. look at Vizio and take a look at them in best buy that is where u will get the best deal . take a look at their 32 inch tv for $550 or their 37 inch tv for $800 . they may be a little more expensive but what says happy birthday .... a tv that you have to squent at or a tv that you can sit back and relax ....if you are ever going to go big and want a good long life time from it look at these tvs

Mitsubishi 65 inch tv for $1999 the best deal you are going to in tvs .

Mitsubishi 73 inch tv for $2999 the 2nd best deal you are going to in tvs

the reason these tvs are sooooooo good is that they are dlp , this means they are rear projection tvs . they are bigger and less money they last about 2 times longer on adverage . those tvs are the type of super bowl party tvs and this will last about 10 plus years ...

  2. I wouldn't go near either of those two tv's with a ten foot pole. You really need to spend some extra cash for a respected brand.

But if you must, go with the Sylvania.

  3. I'm with Lukester on this one. Frankly, I'm not sure what to suggest at that price range. My suggestion is to buy the best brand you can with the money you have. It may seem like a deal now, but when you are ready to watch a cool movie or play some games and the thing wont turn on because it was poorly made, then you will wish you spent the extra cash. It sucks, but you need to be happy. I've always spent just a little more than I could afford to get what I need (and sacrificed somewhere else to make up for it) and never had problems and had tvs for 10 years and was happy with it. RCA always served me well, although some people may not agree with that, and I just bought a Sony and it just rocks! Check out http://sharedreviews.com - there are lots of budget-oriented reviews of tvs from people in your situation (minus the birthday maybe :)...happy birthday and good luck!
