Today my firewire bus powered mac mini 320GB external hard drive (that i bought this year) stopped being powered by firewire alone and needed the USB plugging in as well to be recognised and used...the icon shows it as a firewire drive with both plugged in.2.4GHz (Penryn) Macbook Pro/320GB mac mini
