Todd Bowles makes triumphant debut as Miami Dolphins beat Buffalo Bills 30-23 – NFL Recap
Buffalo Bills increased their chances of ending up at the bottom of the AFC East for the fourth straight year after suffering a 23-30 defeat at the hands of Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Reggie Bush proved too good for the Bills who failed to contain him on the field. Bush ran for a career best 203 yards that included a 76 yards touchdown, thus helping the Dolphins hand the Bills a seventh straight defeat. Bush’s
203 yards came on 25 carries with an average of 8.1 yards per carry.
"It feels good. It means a lot. It means that hey, I'm doing everything that I expect I was going to be doing. It's not so much as me being surprised that this happened today or that I could rush for 100 yards. It's more of the
fact that this is something I expected." Bush said.
It was a night to enjoy for Interim Coach Todd Bowles who won his debut game after Tony Sparano was sacked earlier in the week. Adding to the bright spot for the Dolphins was the return of their quarterback Matt Moore. Moore made
his presence felt by completing 50 percent of the total passes for 217 yards with two touchdowns.
The first quarter of the game ended with Bills taking the lead with the help of a 24 yard touchdown by C.J. Spiller of the kick of Dave Rayner. However, as the second quarter commenced, the Dolphins equalled the score as Matt Moore
threw a 22 yard pass to Anthony Fasano which went for a touchdown. After that for the remaining of the second quarter, Dan Carpenter had the field as he kicked two field goals of 20 and 26 yards respectively that helped Dolphins take a lead which they would
maintain for the rest of the game.
Attempts by the Bills to reduce the deficit proved futile in the third quarter as they found themselves trailing 7-20 after another touchdown by Brandon Marshall of a 65 yard pass thrown by Moore.
The final quarter saw a lot of actions from both the sides. A 26 yard field goal by Dan Carpenter had the Dolphins surge 23-7 ahead. The Bills then managed to hit back with a touchdown pass by Ryan Fitzpatrick to C.J. Spiller.
However, at this stage a two point conversion attempt by the desperate Bills failed and kept them restricted to 23-13. Just when it seemed that the Bills could manage a comeback, their hopes ended after Bush ran for 76 yards for a touchdown to seal the game
in favour of Dolphins. A touchdown pass from Fitzpatrick and a 34 yard field goal by Rayner failed to help the Bills as the game ended 30-23 in the favour of Dolphins.
Fitzpatrick completed 31 of 47 passes for 316 yards with two touchdowns. He did not have a good day conceding three interceptions.
