Todd Carney, Nate Myles and Frank-Paul Nu’uausala suspended for a match after breaching booze ban
The Sydney Roosters have suspended Nate Myles, Todd Carney and Frank-Paul Nu’uausala from one match, for breaching the booze ban that had been imposed by the team.
The trio was found guilty of being involved in the late night drinking sessions until 2 am Monday morning.
Along with the one match ban, the trio has received a breach of contract warning for being found tipsy in two pubs on Monday morning, despite having promised the team members for staying away from alcohol consumption.
This incident has really disappointed the fans of Carney who is wrapped up in the controversies related to his troubles with alcohol intake as this year was punctuated with incidents on this sort for him. The first one took place in February for drunk driving
and the second one was only three months away, when he was spotted with Anthony Watts on a night out.
After that, he had promised not to go near alcohol but it was not too long away when this yet another breach of team commitment made headlines to embarrass the club further.
With this latest incident of booze overdose, not only Roosters’ fans were upset but their skipper, Braith Anasta was extremely angry when he learnt about this incident along with other squad members, including Anthony Minichiello and prop Jason Ryles.
Anasta has contributed a great deal in improving the performance profile of his outfit after they had derailed in 2009, which was considered as a very embarrassing season for the Roosters. Anasta, who had really worked hard with his club, is not only angry
but is embarrassed by the actions of some of his squad members.
This loss of trust within the squad has hit the entire outfit hard and generally everyone within the squad is disapproving of the commitment breach of this sort. In order to substantiate the seriousness of commitment, the future of this trio was left to
be decided by the skipper along with other senior players within the outfit.
However, it was proposed by the seniors on board to go for suspension for the alleged trio, so that the breach of word of this kind is not exercised ever again. With that being said it was left to the disciplinary committee to decide the future for the alleged,
in meeting which was convened on Wednesday, the final verdict was disclosed, which ousted the trio from the next match lined up.
In lieu of the disciplinary action taken, the club issued a statement which said, “The Club is very disappointed by this breach of team discipline and the betrayal of the playing group’s trust. The Sydney Roosters wish to take this opportunity to apologise
to our sponsors, members and supporters.”
