Todd Pletcher –road to becoming one of the greatest American thoroughbred horse trainer
The veteran trainer Todd Pletcher was born on 26 June, 1967 in Dallas, Texas is  one of the leading American trainers who has gone on to win many prestigious awards in his career and they don’t come as prestigious as the Eclipse Awards which Pletcher has
gone on to win four consecutive times as the outstanding trainer of the year.
He has also topped the leader board many a times in purse earnings, as he has done it in the year 2004-2006. His Triple Crown record is also fantastic, as he has gone to win the 2010 edition of the Kentucky Derby with Super Saver and back in 2007 the trainer
along his champion filly Rags to Riches placed in the 2007 Belmont Stakes.
Todd Pletcher didn’t stop with leading the board in purse earnings, he later went on to smash the record for most money made by an American trainer in 2007, this was a record set by Todd Pletcher earlier so he broke his own record.
In 1991 New York, Todd Pletcher went on to work as a foreman for D. Wayne Lukas after getting a degree in Animal Science which led to a brief career in grooming. He then got promoted to assistant trainer in 1991 and he gained all the experience before he
could go professional and then went on to acquire his license in 1995.
His first winner was Majestic Number, who brought home the trainer his first win in Flat racing in 1996, the win was the first of many as it expanded a marvelous winning streak for Todd Pletcher.
Todd Pletcher reached new heights as a horse racing trainer as he grew into his groove more, the champion trainer went on to become the only trainer who broke the record of most stakes win in North America when his speedy horse Scat Daddy defeated the lot
to win the Champagne Stakes to make the Pletcher the winner of the most stakes in North America.
The record included 17 grade 1 victories and he was successful in 52 graded events which summed up to 93 stakes win.
Since 1905 no filly had won the Belmont Stakes, but the Todd Pletcher trainer Rags to Riches became the first since then to win the Belmont Stakes in 2007, it was somewhat a surprise as the U.S racind had fiercely dominated over the past four years.
