Todd Pletcher with 6 of his runners working at Santa Anita ahead of the Breeders’ Cup
There were workouts galore at the California race track, where the participants of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships entered the later stages of their major drills leading up to the races on 2nd and 3rd November, 2012, at Santa Anita Park.
As much as 132 workouts were recorded on 20 October, 2012, at the track and one of the most prominent horsemen with their exciting runners were out turning in rigorous works that will consequently aid them in one of the most difficult races they will run in their racing careers.
Todd Pletcher, was also among those prominent trainers, who was found busy on both turf and the dirt track. Trained by Pletcher for Green Hills Farm, the 4-year-old filly, Love and Pride, who has primarily run on dirt, was out on the dirt track to drill ahead of either the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic or the Grade 1 Filly and Mare Turf.
Her work of five furlongs under Martin Garcia was matched by the Grade 2 Joe Henry Turf Championship runner-up, Turbo Compressor, who both in company with stable mates turned in the distance in 1 minute and 2/5 seconds.
"Both of them worked well," Pletcher said, as a light drizzle fell. "It was just a steady five-eighths breeze. They had a decent gallop out, so we were happy with both of them."
Todd Pletcher had six runners out on the field that day, and he also worked, Bridgetown, for the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, as he turned in four furlongs kin 48 seconds flat over the Santa Anita’s firm turf course.
There were two other runners, who turned in their distances in 48 seconds flat for Todd Pletcher, and for Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, Doubles Partner did four furlongs, while Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic or Filly and Mare Turf candidate, In Lingerie, worked the same distance in similar time.
Tara from the Cape, the only juvenile Pletcher worked on 20 October, covered four furlongs in 48 3/5 seconds, and she worked in company ahead of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
