Todd Pletcher’s In Lingerie conquers the Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park
In Lingerie had a lasting impact in the $100,000 Grade 3 Bourbonnette Oaks, as she defeated fellow competition and stole the show on 24th March at Turfway Park.
Trained by Todd Pletcher for the Gary Barber & Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, she started her career on the same track on 14th January, 2012. She was then owned by R. Warren Lyster and trained by Stephen Lyster, but was transferred
to Pletcher when her purchase was privately made.
In this race, the 1 mile race track was not an obstacle for, In Lingerie, as she secured the victory, finishing 6 lengths ahead of her stable mate, Dancing Solo.  Teamed with John Velazquez, she finished the course in 1 minute and 38.28 seconds.
The bay filly, who is the daughter of Empire Maker, out of Cat Chat, exceeded expectations with this performance. With this stellar performance, she is likely to compete in her first graded stakes of her career in the Kentucky Oaks, which is scheduled
to take place on 4th May, 2012.
Pletcher, who also trains, Dancing Solo, for Twin Creeks Racing Stables LLC was proud of how his trainees competed. This second place finish acquired by the daughter of Giant’s Causeway, out of mare Dancing Solo, was a very good effort made by the
young filly.
In Lingerie was expected to win the race from the first quarter onwards, which she easily overcame in 25.24 seconds. She covered this distance comfortably without any hesitation.
Dancing Solo, paired with Javier Castellano, followed her closely behind. Original Kitten was chasing Dancing Solo in third, but the early move on the backstretch jeopardised her chances. This cost her placed finish as she fell behind, and could not
gather the pace again.
In Lingerie defeated all competition in the second turn where she gained the pace and fought off challenges and easily crossed the wire with Dancing Solo behind her. Toxis finished third by a margin of 5 ½ lengths, whereas Bourbonstreetgirl finished
fourth.
This race showed the true potential of Pletcher’s stable. These runners may be looking at many future victories in races to come.
