Question:

Toddler's favourite word - NO!??

My daughter is 16 months old, and as with most toddlers, NO is her favourite word. We have tried hard not to overuse the word no for this reason. It's driving us crazy, because she will say no even if she means yes. For instance, if we are eating dinner and we ask her if she wants more she will say no even if she does.

Is it normal for a 16 month old to confuse yes and no? She understands most things we say to her (or seems to) and can follow simple directions and she has a fairly large vocab for her age.

Would love to hear from parents with toddlers who have gone through this!

  1. my son is two and its still his favorite word there is no addressing it it is a phase they are learning that they are independant and can make their own choices.

  2. Its a new sound, a new word, and she gets a reaction from u!  What more could a fun loving toddler want!  It'll pass, her vocab will grow and u'll have fun in years to come remembering it and reminding her about it!

  3. my 17 month old does not say NO!!??
