Toddler/Child Safety!?

We are going on vacation, and I know the airport and water parks get really busy and are a wonderful place for kids to get place. We are going to try to protect our children from this happening, and preparing this for in case it does.

Each child (all of them 13-10 months) have bracelets on their wrist that say my cell phone number.

I have 2 kids with allergies (one to nuts and one to shelfish). I am buying these to stick on the front of their shirt.

I also got these ID cards for each child. One for my wallet, one for my husbands wallet, and 3 left over to put in my kids pocket (and for them to get lost a couple times too).

Some other things I did was color code (I know I'm sick lol) the outfits so were all are wearing the same color. I can look up and say "My group is right her!" Nice and easy to spot."

Anything else I can do?

  1. You are very well prepared. I understand that you feel your children are not pets, but the leashes are very useful. It allows the child to walk alone, but you still have control of where they go and keep them from getting lost. We have a 6 year old and 2 year old daughter. Both of them have/had used the leashes before. We love them. We also take advantage of when the local police dept. has the fingerprinting at the mall. That is something else to consider.

  2. How many kids do you have? lol

You are sooo over prepared in a good way like someone before me said.

For a sec I thought you were taking 15 two year olds!

The best thing to do is keep them close with you.

Most importantly let them have fun.

I saw a lady with her grandson on a leash harness thing but child sized.

PLEASE DONT GET ONE NOW THAT I MENTIONED IT!!

    lol

    Good Luck!

    EDIT

Now that I mention it someone asks about it lol!

  3. I think you're doing a great thing.  I especially like the shirt idea because when everyone is wearing bright orange or yellow it is so much easier picking someone out of a crowd.

You can also take little transistor radios to the park so you and another adult can split if you need to and be able to get in contact with each other if you can't seem to find them.

You can never be too safe these days (especially with allergies or losing a child in a crowd), so do all of those and have a good time!

  4. OK I am with you with everything but the allergy card. The children will be eating with you even if lost police EMS etc  stay clear of common allergens.   Those stickers are more along the lines of when they go to day camp and you are not there.

OK i saw your comment about  the harnesses and leashes. They are very effective  with younger kids that you need to have near you and are newly walking http://www.smallplanetkids.com/   http://www.dandeecorp.com/

  5. I'm a teacher so I can safely say you sound like me when I take my class on a field trip :)  Good job momma! Better to be overly prepared than under-prepared.  The only other thing I could think of, and maybe you've done this already, is making sure your hotel room is baby proofed.  When we went on our vacation we rented a condo and my husband and I brought outlet covers and a baby gate with us because you never know what the place you're staying at has or does not have.  Have a nice vaca!

  6. I think you are over prepared but not in a bad way! Good Luck! I'm sure you'll do fine!
