I love reading to my daughter but i am getting a little tired of reading the same old books over and over again. What are some good reads?

Please do not suggest Good Night Moon, The Very Hungry Catapillar, or Guess How Much I Love You because I already have those books and burnt out on them too.

I currently read:

The little old lady who was not afraid of anything

What makes a rainbow

My Truck is Stuck

  1. We just got a huge collection of Dr. Seuss books and my son LOVES all of the rhyming.  He has a huge book collection.  So far, these are his favorite but that may be b/c they're new, lol.

They're really good for later on when they are learning to read by themselves, too.

  2. How about...

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (Bill Martin, Jr.)

    Good Night, Gorilla (Peggy Rathman)

Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See? (Bill Martin, Jr.)

Are You My Mother? (P.D. Eastman)

    Peek a Who? (Nina Laden)

    Pinkalicious (Victoria Kann)

    Purplicious (Elizabeth Kann)

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (Laura Numeroff)

If You Give a Moose a Muffin (Laura Numeroff)

    The Foot Book (Dr. Seuss)

The Cat in the Hat (Dr. Seuss)

Green Eggs and Ham (Dr. Seuss)

My two-year-old daughter also loves the $3.00 books in Wal-Mart by the toy section. She likes anything that has Elmo or Dora in it. I also have a couple of potty books that she likes.

  3. Lets see some of my kids favorites include...

    Rainbow Fish

Brown Bear Brown Bear what do you see

    also panda bear panda bear.....

There was an old lady who swallowed a ....

Mr Brown can Moo Can You?

    Eight Silly Monkeys

    My Gigantasaurus Book of Colors

    and Don't eat the Teacher

  4. I'm a big fan of "I'll Love You Forever".  My mom used to read it to me when I was little, and now I read it to my daughters.  I remember the first time I read it it made me cry... It's a sweet book for your daughter and you.

A few more favorites are "Moo Baa La La La", "The Going to Bed Book", and "Barnyard Dance"  They're short, colorful, and they rhyme. They're definitely good for young ones.  They're written by Sandra Boynton.  She has a few more books that are good too.  I just can't think of all of the names off the top of my head.

  5. The Very Lazy Ladybug by Isobel Finn/Jack Tickle. My 2 & 3 (and even my 6 year old) love this book. It's a pop up.

Ten Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth and Laura Huliska-Beith. The bugs are actually sticking up from the page and my kids get a kick out of the animal that takes each lady bug. It's very enjoyable.
