I am looking for anyone who has dealt with something like this. we do have a doctors appt in two days.

Signs symptoms. waking up, or not fully awake. screaming painfully . stretching then curling up, never relaxed or comfortable. this has actually happend quite a few times, but my slow brain is realizing just how many times....

last night it happened again. she screamed for hours. But she is able now to talk and express herself better, so in a half sleep she is able to point out where the owie is. Last night she was lucid enough and asked for a bandaid. although she still cried i still think she relaxed a little...

This is new to me, mo other kids never had this problem . Like i said her doc appt is saturday.

just looking to see if anyone has dealt with something like this...

  1. I had this with my first. It was so frustrating when they are not fully awake screaming bloody murder and you can't figure out why. When I finally figured it out, we got through the episodes by me massaging her legs until she calmed down. The doctor told me it was growing pains, and something sort of like RLS where she was just getting achy. I tried to get her to wake up more just because she then realized I was trying to help her.

  2. my mother in law said this happened to her youngest son when he was little....growing pains. she said they hurt him so bad he would just scream and cry. sounds alot like what your child is dealing with. as a parent i cant even imagine seeing your baby in pain like that. maybe try a nice warm relaxing bath before bed followed by rubbing/massaging her legs with some lotion. id also give her some tylenol before bed. hope this can help ease her pain a little bit before the dr appt!

edit: i would take her to the dr that she has seen since she was little and pay the co pay and just see what she says. if she needs testing then take her to a different dr. is there only one you can see with your insurance? best of luck to you

  3. has she ever broke her leg? my 6 month old broke her arm at birth and every once in awhile it still hurts her

  4. Sounds like a growing pain...but the pain shouldn't be that bad...good luck,.

  5. My oldest had growing pains that sounded like that. I would take her to her appointment and let her doctor know and see what his opinion is and treatment.

  6. This sounds like a charlie horse to me.  They are not usually a serious problem...but they can be a sign of a magnesium or potassium defficancy.  If she wakes up in the middle of the night complaing of pain again have her streach her leg out and then push her bottom of her foot so her toes are pushed up (don't have her point her toes, this can make the cramp worse).

  7. I had a friend that had a granddaughter with similar symptoms.  I don't want to scare you, but the little girl had cancer.  She was not in a smoking home, everything was healthy, they couldn't figure out where she got it at first.  Turns out some of the ingredients in the immunizations are cancer causing.  I pray this is not the case for you.  I wasn't even going to answer your question because I didn't want to scare you.  Then I thought that if you don't get an answer, maybe you should push for an MRI and possibly a biopsy to make sure.  It could be as simple as the way she is sleeping and the leg is falling asleep and when it wakes back up...you know the pain.
