I have a sick 20 month old boy. He doesnt have a fever , he has medicine for an ear infection. I put him to bed at 10PM last night and he slept until noon. Then he told me at about 2:30PM that he was tired and I laid him down and he is still asleep. He was just at the doctor , and the condition has been identified , but is this much sleep normal for a sick baby? He has been pretty healthy so I am not used to him sleeping this much.

  1. If you're in doubt then you should definitely take him to his doctor.  Don't wait!!!!!!   You should make sure he is drinking lots of fluids. from 10pm to 12pm thats alot!!!

  2. This is normal, he is listening to what his body needs encourage him to do that.

Give him lots of water (over juice) and some healthy foods when he's awake.

  3. i would take him to the dr me that dosnt sound normal my daughter had that hand and foot vires and i took her to the doc becase she wouldnt eat or drink and they said it was a ear infection but i gave her the med. and it didnt work so i took her back and it was blisters in her mouth

  4. Sleep is the best thing for him right now. His body is trying to recuperate and heal.

  5. When the body needs to heal, it needs lots of sleep.Just be sure he gets plenty of fluids and gets up and moving some and then let him sleep his way to getting over that infection.

Wishing you and him the best.

  6. his body is using energy to mend his bad ear.

try to get him to have water or juice when he is awake, to make sure he stays hydrated

keep an eye on his temperature

take him back to the doc if he is not improving in 48 hours

  7. That is far too much sleeping even for a sick toddler. Go back to the doctor. Make sure the medicine isn't making him sleepy and make sure you aren't overdosing it by mistake too. Go back to his pediatrician, please.
