I am constantly going in and finding my 21 mo old with a blanket covering her face, and none of her body. Last night she had her pillow over her head. Is this a big deal or not?

  1. my hubby did that as a toddler and still does 30 some yrs later, my 3.5 yr old did it too and still does it. Its a security thing, just keep checking on her alot when she crashes and move them down to a safe level  or  keep the blanket at waist level and let her be.

  2. I have a friend whose little boy does the same thing, I think that at that age they can tell they if something is blocking their airway, however for peice of (my) mind, I would take it out and dress her in warm onesies or fleece like jammies.... but that is just me. I sounds like it is more security then to keep warm... Good Luck!

  3. ♥ My daughter is four and has her mini-me(blanket) that she has slept with since she left the hospital and she always has it up by her face. Its a security thing. Babies are use to having warm soft things around them it comforts them. So don't worrie to much about it.

  4. My cousin daughter (now 18) has always done this and still does and she has been fine. She started it at a very young age as well.

  5. It can lead to suffocation. I know someone who ended up giving their child who did a similar thing a small knitted blankie with plenty of holes in the pattern so her son could always breathe.

  6. my mom said i did the same thing and grew out of it by school age. i don't remember it at all.

  7. I wouldnt think it is a big deal. Everyone is diffrent when it comes to this. I cant stand anything over my face or i feel like i cant breath( it is just psycological not physical) and my boyfriend sleeps under the covers. If it dosent seem to bother her then dont worry about it. Maybe there is too much light in her room and it bothers her???

  8. My 7 month old pulls the blanket up around her face at night. I think it's a security thing. She also has to have to top of her head touching something. If you are really worried about it, dress her warmly enough and don't give her a blanket at night
