  1. Do not give her another dose, take her in to the Dr explain she has a fever and that she vomited..  It probably has nothing to do with the medicine and more to do with what is wrong with her.  A fever with vomiting in a child in an ER/immediate Dr visit! Take her in!

  2. Don't give her anymore b/c she may have ingested some of the motrin.  You can give Tylenol in 2 hours.  These two medicines are safe together and safe to "piggyback" as long as you wait the 2 hours.  It is even recommended for high fevers, etc. so it's safe.

Just b/c she threw the Motrin up doesn't mean she is allergic to it.  She may have an upset stomach and adding Motrin (which can cause an upset stomach) aggravated it.  Please don't assume it's an allergy right away.

  3. You don't need to wait 2 hours.  OTC doses are a lot lower than prescription doses.   How high is the fever?  If over 102 give Tylenol in a suppository.  How long after did she throw up?  If less than 10 minutes little was absorbed and you don't need to be concerned of an overdose.  This isn't an allergy.  How much did she have?  Was it just the concentrated infant drops or was it the children's?  Most toddlers are going to be between 24-35 lbs.  So did she get the 1.875 mg infant drops or a teaspoon 5cc of children's suspension?  Either way the its ok.  And don't worry about the nursing student, she is just green, things aren't done by the book in the real world.  I have 2 toddler sons ages 34 and 20 months weighing 27 lbs and 34 lbs.  this does not warrant an ER visit at all.  If you are that concerned call her doc.  As long as she isn't lethargic and taking fluids its ok and actually better than to bring a child who is autoimmune suppressed to an ER that she is very susceptible to acquiring a nosocomial infection.

Go BRAT- the brat diet is recommended for vomiting/diahhrea.  Clear liquids till she stops vomiting.  NO MILK for a bit.  She will survive.  BRAT-bananas, rice, applesauce, toast.  I just searched this and it is considered old school.  I like it, but ask her pcp

  4. No Hun do not give it her again ..although she could have brought most of it back up chances are she also digested some too, i would wait and give her a dose when the time is up again

  5. maybe you should give her Tylenol. Motrin more like an adultish medicine. you should try consulting a doctor about this. but i would rather choose Tylenol because it's very children friendly. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't call up or consult a doctor 'bout this. hope i helped and hope you toddlers will get well soon! bye!

  6. Take her to the doctor.

  7. yeah, don't give her motrin again even if she did throw it up.

  8. Um it sounds like she is allergic to the motrin when I was little and first had lobster I threw up in my crib so you should take your daughter to the doctor's to see if she really is allergic.

  9. Sounds like she may have a flu bug, just keep her comfortable and with little clothing to bring down the fever faster. Buy some pedialyte and give her sips of it, my kids Peds Dr. always told me try not to give them much of anything the first 24 hrs after vomiting, their little bodies need to rest. She will probably sleep alot, but that is okay too, Maybe try another dose of motrin in another two hours instead of 4 in case she did throw it up. Good Luck

  10. If I were you, if I had Tylenol I would give her a almost full dose of that. If you don't have any, give her 1/2 dose of the Motrin. She'll be fine. I am the mother of 3 children (6, 4, &3) who very rarely see the doctor. (The last time my kids when was last summer when my 6 yr old son had scarlet fever. Girl, I was clueless lol) If you scared about the medicine, try a suppository for fever. Also you could give her a cool bath or a popsicle. But no milk!! It will go bad in her stomach, because of her temp. Hope I helped a little.  And I hope your daughter is feeling well again soon.

  11. My 3 year old son does that with liquid medicine. I actually bought the Motrin and Tylenol Melts for 2-6 years old and he lucky doesn't throw that up. They actually taste good (yes I have tried them)
