What is the BEST floatie for two year old twin boys to wear when learning to swim?....I don't think the arm ones are that good or effective. If any swim coaches are out there to answer would be great!!

thanks!!

  1. Actually we didn't like the "arm ones...swimmies they are called here" UNTIL we tried them. As long as they are supervised (which I'm sure they will be) the arm swimmies are great! As our son learned to swim we removed one and let him get more used to actually swimming rather than floating. Then we we knew he could actually swim across the pool, we took off the other one. Was great for him. I guess all kids are different though. Main thing is that aren't afraid of the water. G'luck

  2. You can get suits that are inflatable. The inflatable part covers the whole torso area. They are available at Target. I noticed lots of parents in our community use them for their kids.

  3. i'm not a lifeguard or anything but i think its best to  teach a toddler swimming with a life vest because its protactive and it won't slip like the arm floaties. but having arm floaties with a parent beside the toddler is good.

  4. I'm a lifeguard and a WSI (Water Safety Instructor) and we don't allow these at our beach!  Use a coast guard certified lifejacket.  Also, enroll your kids in swim lessons, so they know how to swim properly.  And SUPERVISE your children!!  If they are in the water, be in the water nearby with them.  Never rely on a device to save your child.  They fail all the time!
