Toe guard of bat came off slightly and bottom is damaged.?

I was practicing at the nets with my new bat for the first time and the toe guard came off and when i looked afterwards i noticed that the bottom section was a bit damaged. HOW TO PREVENT IT : SHOULD I KNOCK IN THE TOE OF THE BAT OR APPLY LINSEED OIL OR SOMETHING

do as u like but dont hurt the players with damage bat accidently the toe may again get impaired while playing,oiling is only temporarily
