Has anyone tried the tofu shiritaki noodles? On that hungrygirl.com website she uses them in all her noodle recepies and she swears by them. Are they gross? Do they taste similar to noodles? Does anyone have any good recepies to use them in? Thanks!

  1. I like them - they're not as chewy as flour/rice/egg based noodles - they have a bite to them...

If you have a Ra Sushi restaurant near you - check it out.  They have a tofu noodle shrimp dish.

  2. They are excellent, with satisfying, rib sticking chewiness, and yes you can use them in any pasta/noodle preparation. The taste is supplied by the sauce you put them in.

I open several packages, rinse off the liquid in a colander and drain. Then I transfer them to a storage container, cover them with water, add a splash of vinegar (to neutralize the calcium sulfate they come in) put on the lid and into the fridge. Pasta, presto, any time I want for 20 calories!

Try this: Take a cup of your favorite spaghetti sauce - homemade or from the jar, heat it in a pan, dump in a half package of rinsed noodles, and heat over medium until bubbly. Pour into a serving dish, top with grated cheese and enjoy.
