Question:

Tofu made from other beans besides soy?

I'm trying to avoid soybean products because of the potential dangers. Whether it's true or not I don't know but I'm not risking it..

Is it possible to make tofu from other beans such as navy or lima beans?

  1. Burmese tofu is made from chickpeas.  I've attached a thread below that is a discussion about making your own chickpea tofu.  I think there's some talk in there about trying other varieties...

  2. Yes.

    You can make it out of pretty much anything you want actually.

    Anything that the particular coagulant you are using will work on.

    Gypsum or nigari are two popular coagulants for tofu.
