Toga party ideas!?

My husband and I are throwing a toga party for my birthday... does anybody have any great ideas to make the party extra special? concerning food, decor, favours, drinks, music, games, etc?

Plan a trivia quiz for your guests about Greek mythology and Roman traditions and customs. Put all your questions in a hat and have people pick from the hat. You should have the answers separate, with someone in charge of them.

Keep the colors simple (green, white, gold). You should wear a color toga though since it's your birthday!

Also, party supplies stores have plastic collesiums that make great decorations. Also, use olive branches and the garland leaves for decorations.

Food wise; go with classics. Dips, Olives, etc.

put on the invites "special prize for best toga" give them a nice prize like a movie or bottle of booze or something- people will then come up with creative ideas for their togas. you can play Roman Olympic type games ... well maybe not to that extreme but maybe horseshoes or that heavy ball toss thing they did...maybe a chariot race where teams of two compete- have one person be the horse and pull someone in some type of cart or maybe (a little easier to get supplies) would be a wheelbarrow race where one person is in the wheel barrow and the other one pushes the wheel barrow (make sure to do it on grass!). would be fun! heres a link to roman games http://www.roman-empire.net/society/soc-... maybe you can come up with some different ideas from that.

food- make whatever you want really! maybe make a special drink relating to greek or roman theme

decor- maybe vines of some sort on the tables, bunches of grapes and fruit bowls, tiki torches outdoors
