Question:

Toilet Seat?

Recently our toilet seat which is supposed to be white started turning blue. I'm not sure why. I have tried everything to clean it, bleach wipes, vinegar and water, scrubbing bubbles. Nothing is working. Any ideas on why it's turning colors and how to fix it?

  1. Replace it.  They're only about $10 at any home improvement store.

We replace all of ours about every 5 years.

  2. the more you try to clean it the bluer it will get. your cleaning the finish off it.

  3. I haven't heard of them changing colors, but if it's aggravating enough, they are quite easy to replace; two thumb nuts below  on either side.  Check Home Depot, Lowes, or your local home center.

Or, as mentioned, you might be stripping the finish from the seat in which case you need to replace it.  Try a simple spray disinfectant like Lysol and a soft sponge to clean, instead of an abrasive cleaner such as AJAX.
