Toilet is clogged lots of water then no water?

my toilet got clogged and it was like half an inch from over flowing now thers no water in it. wat do i do?

they sell some stuff at walt mart for like 7 bucks it works good. Also try using different type of toilet paper sometimes if is to thick it will just keep on clogging it.

Go find the cap to your sewer line. It would be behind your house and be about 4 inch diameter. If the water is flowing out of it, it's a clog between your house and wherever your sewer line ends up. I had the same problem, and the problem was way behind my house, at the street. Good luck.

Use a plunger, put it over the hole and keep pumping whatever is clogged into the hole.

Try a plunger, if that doesn't work, try a drain snake (auger)

It's clogged, but there's enough room in the pipe that the water eventually drains out.  Get a plunger.  When the water is about halfway down, use a pumping motion (soft and quick pumps).  You're trying to cause the water to ripple into the pipe to push and clear away the clog.

the water was backed up because it drained slower than it filled, after a while it probably completely drained. Okay so have some water in it and use a plunger which you probably did and it didnt work, go out buy a snake (its a rolled up rope made out of metal or something) shove it in the  toilet until you ether unclog it or get frustrated

Your toilet is fine. They can do that sometimes when the clog is serious. Try flushing again and the water shoud go back to normal.

Reach into the tank (don't worry, the water is clean) and lift up the flapper at the bottom center of the tank. That will allow water into the bowl. Once you have a few inches in there, push the flapper back down and then plunge like crazy. See what happens, then flush.
