Question:

Toilet troubles with newly trained toddler?

Anyone have any advice............We recently pottytrained my son and now he wants to sit on the big toilet, Hooray!! The problem is that when he sits on the toilet, his pee stream comes out between the lid and the toilet, getting all over his underwear and shorts! We obviously don't have this problem when he sits on his little potty, but we would like to encourage his interest in the big toilet! Any suggestions?

  1. My boys were tiny so they sat backwards for a long time -- (so they faced the wall)  - there is a lot more room that way -- and all the pee goes where it is supposed to!!

  2. I always let my son stand (he used a stool to reach when he was too short) to pee.

When he goes #2, he will only sit backward on the toilet and this eliminates your problem and it makes him feel more stable, like he's not going to fall in.

    Good luck!

Oh, and I've also heard of the Cheerios trick where you throw in a Cheerio and have him aim for it.  LOL.

  3. If he doesn't feel comfortable standing yet then you could try to get the pee in the toilet by telling him to make "bubbles" in the potty and not on himself.

  4. have his dad or a big brother show him the correct technique for holding his p***s in a direction the is inside of the toilet... that is why, so fix that and everything will work out, or at least it should... next time he is sitting on the toilet...just see if he is holding the p***s down, he probably isn't... show just show him and everybody will be happier....

  5. If he is big enough, get him a step to stand on and teach him to wee standing up "just like daddy!". Otherwise, we used to teach toilet training boys at the day care i worked at to "aim" by using their hand to hold it down towards the water.....if that makes sense....hope this helps!!

  6. I would recommend a stool for him to stand on and lift the toilet lid up.  Daddy can help with "how the big boys do it"

  7. Yep try and get him to stand or else with my son I would take his shorts/underwear off which was easier for him to scoot back and that didn't happen anymore. Lol

    Good Luck with it all!
