Question:

Toilet will not flush right?

When I flush the toilet in my master bathroom, all it does is spin. The water just spins and spins. A little whirlpool starts and some of the waste gets sucked down. But I usually have to flush it numerous times. The water never actually goes all of the way down and refills. Just spins and spins for a minute.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks.

  1. either the sewer line or the vent pipe is plugged up....

  2. Sounds like it is clogged.  Try a plunger.  Not a pleasant problem, but it should be easy enough to fix.

  3. Sounds like you're not getting the suction you need.  Try plunging it and see if that helps.

  4. partially stopped up, use plunger or closet auget to clear. If you have been having problems w/ this toilet for a while, why not replace it. Old toilets get mineral deposits built up in them. The early model 1.6 gallon per flush toilets were imfamous about stopping up. The newer ones are alot better. If you decide to replace it, I know of several very good toilets to get, ant style toto toilet (best made) american standard cadet 3, kohler cimmaron. the a/s and kohler are a copy of toto drake but toto is very proud of thier toilets ($$$ but thier worth it) the a/s and kohler are available @ home depot. Toto's are available at your better plumbing supply house.
