Someone told me I needed to snake my "Main". My toilet takes forever to flush and my tub doesn't drain well. I don't want to call a plumber but I will if I need too. Can someone tell me how to do this myself if it's possible??

  1. This made me think of a song my father used to sing...

    Don't pull the chain brother,

I like to watch them float.

Possibly no help whatsoever for your problem but thanks for making me think of my Dad.......

  2. Maybe its clogged, or your piping is not right. Just call a plumber. Don't fix it yourself if you don't know.

  3. Go to your local hardware store and ask them for a Drain Snake. Its basically a long winded spring that you stick down your toilet or bathtub or kitchen sink to remove anything blocking it by turning and releasing anything that is built up.

If this doesnt help then you will have to open up your "Main" which is a Big Pipe usually in the basment comes up as a "Y" one continues as a pipe the other is capped. Take the cap of and snake that too if you have too. You should also have a cleanout in your floor too you could try and snake that too if you want.

It gets complicated and chances are you might not be able to do it. But I try everything at least once.
