  1. I remember reading somewhere that you only need to go outside for 10 minutes daily to get the amount of vitamin D your body needs. Try that instead of taking pills!

  2. You get vitamin d from the sun, maybe try a few days outside, Iwouldn't take them if you are throwing up, they won't be going in your system anyway.

  3. If you go out into the sun you will get all the vitamin d you need.  Google it!

  4. Try swallowing the tablets quickly. If you really can't manage that, ask your doctor if you can have the injection of calciferol (vitamin D2) which lasts a year. But Rickets or osteomalacia is serious and can lead to bone deformation and pain. Don't stop the treatment, whichever form it's in.

You will get some well-intentioned advice, but don't try to self-prescribe and self-medicate. If you do not want to follow your doctor's prescription, go back and talk to him/her. If after your discussion, you want to follow your own treatment, you will be discharged and you can do what you like. On the other hand, if you do not intend to see your doctor again about your condition, you can self-discharge and go your own way. But don't self-treat and go back without telling your doctor.

  5. If you don't get on with them why not try a multi-vitamin or one of the bassett chewy vitamins. It will keep ypur vitamin d levels up whilst tasting better, i have the same problem with my iron tablets there horrible so i take a multi-vitamin instead.

  6. In June, my Vitamin D number was 16 - normal reading is 32 to 100 with 32 (at my age) being the healthiest number. My doctor, who is an internist and a holistic MD, prescribed one 5000 IU gelcap of Vitamin D3 a day until my number improves, which he feels will take about four months (most over the counter is D2 which is ineffective). I was unable, due to a medication I was taking, to go outside for 2-1/2 years, hence, my vitamin D level dropped.

    Here's the info:

Product #116120 Ortho Molecular Products Vitamin D 5000 IU, 120 capsules. Try Vitacost.com for best price - buy the highest quality they have, and make CERTAIN it is D3.

PS: Low levels of Vitamin D causes mental confusion, foggy vision, and generalized muscle weakness (you can lose your balance and fall). Good luck!
