Tom Boonen “filled his batteries” as he charges up for the Classics in 2013
After a successful 2012 Classics campaign, Tom Boonen is all set to continue his tremendous form in the season ahead.
The cyclist has already started training for the 2013 season and noted that, he “filled his batteries” after a vacation in Mauritius.
The Belgian’s great run of form was evident all through the year with several top performances in his bag.

He started the season with a first place finish at the National Road Race Championships and followed it up with stage wins and overall victories at the Tour of Qatar and the World Ports Classics 2012.
Boonen occupied the first positions at the Paris-Roubaix, Tour of Flanders, Gent-Wevelgem, E3 Harelbeke and Paris-Brussels along with a second place finish at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and fourth at the Vattenfall Cyclassics.
The 32-year-old also bagged stages at the Paris-Nice and Tour de San Luis to wrap up a perfect 2012 season.
His all-round performances earned him a third overall spot after the UCI World Tour Individual Rankings with a total number of 410 UCI points.
Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver of Team Katusha leads the category with 692 UCI points while the reigning Tour de France champion, Bradley Wiggins holds the second position with 601 points.
“It was a special year with the new Tour of Flanders and my fourth win in Roubaix," he said.
“I need a few weeks without the bike. That also makes you hungrier. The batteries are properly filled now, the hunger is there. The other day I caught myself thinking that I was ready to start training again,” he told Sporza.be.
“I'm at a point where I must have a lot of racing in my legs for the Classics. That worked this year,” he said.
Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step is one of the strongest World Tour side and with the inclusion of Mark Cavendish the team has definitely strengthened its sprinting department and the Manxman is expected to lead the Belgian side at the Tour de France 2013.
While commenting at the Tour de France 2013 Boonen cited, “I have seen the route of the Tour next year and I honestly do not like it,” Boonen said
Tom’s main focus will be the Classics in 2013 and he does not expect to ride the French Grand Tour with the new teammate Mark Cavendish.
