Tom Boonen to dominate the Tour of Poland – Cycling News
Tom Boonen is taking part in the Tour of Poland starting at the end of this week and is positive that he will score some wins and boost his confidence after a disastrous Tour de France. The 30-year-old had to leave the Tour because of a crash at stage 7.
The cyclist showed his disappointment after the crash as he said that he was well prepared for the Tour de France and his chances of winning were good. The Belgian shared his experience as he stated that the first week of the Tour is always the hardest one
and that Tour de France is amongst his favourites and he will come back and compete next year. He further went on to add that hard work and efforts that he has put through before the Tour de France will be useful in the coming events.
Boonen however seemed to have recovered from the crash and is all set to go for the Tour of Poland
“I’ve been able to train well these last ten days,” He said. “I’m not affected anymore by my crash in the Tour. My condition was already good in France and now I’ll try to refine it. I feel very good on the bike.”
He will be accompanied by his team members Dario Cataldo, Marc de Maar, Francesco Chicchi, Francesco Reda, Kristof Vandewalle, Davide Malacarne and Kevin Seeldraeyers.
The Belgian wants to make up for the lost chances and will push his limits in the coming Tour of Poland as he commented that he wants to win a stage in the tour and will test his skills during that. Boonen started his career in 2000 at the Tour of Poland.
Boonen has seen the route for the Tour of Poland and is hopeful for success as all the stages are finishing on the city-centre circuits that suits his tremendous skills. He stated that there are two important things to be careful about is to maintain pedal
flow in order to maintain a decent lead and to make sure not to get caught off guard during the tournament.
