Tom Brady skips practice to rest injured foot
For the third straight week, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has skipped practice as the Patriots get set to take on the Detroit Lions on Thursday 25 November.
Brady continues to nurse a sprained foot, but taking a rest from practice leading up to the game has become a weekly thing, as the rest seems to be doing Brady some good, since he is coming off strong back-to-back performances.
Besides skipping practice on Tuesday, Brady was also limited during Monday's practice as the Patriots prepared for their short week.
When asked about adjusting to only having three days between games, Brady said during his weekly news conference, "Well, I think it has its physical challenges and its mental challenges. We got after it pretty good yesterday. No one is really sure what day
it is around here. It doesn't feel like a Tuesday, I'll tell you that. But as football players, we adjust.
"We do what we've got to do. We put a lot of installation in and try to understand what they do well and what they don't do so well and try to go out there and execute well on game day."
The Patriots are currently tied atop the AFC East with the New York Jets at 8-2. Both play on Thanksgiving Thursday against lesser opponents who are 2-8 (Jets host the Cincinnati Bengals). It seems as though Brady's status before games has been either 'probable'
or 'questionable' his entire career, but with the exception of the 2008 season when he didn't play, Brady hasn't missed a game as the Patriots' starting quarterback.
In the two previous weeks since he's been battling with his foot injury, Brady has completed over 70 per cent of his passes and throwing for 536 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.
