Tom Brady wins 100th game
With the New England Patriots 41-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Monday night, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady celebrated his 100th win. Brady accomplished the feat in only 131 games
– faster than any other quarterback in NFL history.
Drafted 199th overall in 2000, Brady has had a remarkable career since replacing Drew Bledsoe in week two of the 2001 season. He won the Super Bowl in his rookie season, was named Super Bowl MVP, and has won the Super Bowl two more times since, as well as
another Super Bowl MVP award, and five Pro Bowl selections.
At 33 years old, there is almost no trophy which Brady hasn't won, and his century mark of victories is just another of many records he currently holds.
"I've played on a great team for my entire career with the same organization that's committed to winning," Brady said after his 100th win. "I'm privileged to be the quarterback of this team and I hope I'm here forever."
He may well stay in New England, where he's played his entire professional career, forever. He signed a four-year, $72 million contract extension over the summer, making him the highest paid player in the NFL.
Brady has played for a great team, and this has helped him to achieve such a remarkable feat in football. This was evidenced by the fact that it was not New England's star players who stepped up to get the Patriots the victory. Brady got his 100th win in
one of his least productive games of the season, throwing for less than 200 yards, and star wide receiver Randy Moss failed to even catch a single pass. Instead, it was the Patriots supporting cast who intercepted passes and blocked punts en route to Brady's
special victory.
Brady will have to wait two weeks for his shot at win number 101 as the Patriots enter their bye week. The Patriots will be in a tough position against the 3-1 Baltimore Ravens in week six.
