Tom Cable considering giving starting quarterback job to Jason Campbell
The Oakland Raiders have won three games in a row and their starting quarterback during that time, Jason Campbell, is finally getting some much due respect from his coach. Tom Cable, who had been adamant
recently that Bruce Gradkowski would remain the Raiders' starting quarterback as soon as he was ready to return from a shoulder injury, has now finally considered the possibility of leaving the responsibility in the hot hand of his backup.
"I really haven't wavered, but I do have a belief in me about, you know, when you're dealing it and you got the hot hand, and things are going in the right direction for your football team, you know, why
would you make a change?" Cable told reporters on Monday. "That's what I think right now, but in the back of my mind I also say, 'It's not really making a change. He was a starter before I made the change with Bruce and he's kind of come back and done a lot
of good things for our team.'"
He added: "I'm probably leaning toward staying with the hot hand. That's just where I'm at."
Campbell has been solid over the last three games completing close to 60 per cent of his passes for over 700 yards with five touchdown passes and only one interception.
Campbell also recently led the Raiders to a win over the AFC West leading Kansas City Chiefs and his team have become bonafide contenders for a play-off berth this season.
Cable's comments on Monday are a major turn around from the message he was sending the media only a week ago when he said, "There's no issue there in my mind. What we've done is some nice things in the
last two weeks. You got to take your hat off to Jason. It's a nice job on his part, as well as the rest of the offensive players. But, we know who our quarterback is."
