Hollywood actor Tom Cruise secretly tested Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 car in California recently.
The Hollywood superstar drove a Formula 1 car for the first time in his life in California with Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull Racing ambassador David Coulthard oversaw the driving of Cruise. He told the media that Tom had a great outing with their F1 car during the test.
In addition, he mentioned that the American actor completed 24 laps at the Willow Springs racetrack in Rosamond and that his car’s speed reached 181mph after covering the 2.5-mile track.
He also said that Tom improved his best time by 11 seconds from the start to the end of the test day and that was something commendable.
Coulthard said, “Tom's the real deal. I was surprised that he picked it up so quickly and is such an accomplished driver. His recall was incredible considering how complicated driving an F1 car is. He's a guy who really pushes the envelope in real life.
This day was not green screened. He thoroughly impressed me.”
On the other hand, Tom told the media that he is already a motor racing fan.
Red Bull are leading the 2011 Formula 1 championship battle with a huge margin at the moment.
Their team driver Sebastian Vettel was conceded as the favourite to win this season’s championship after performing very strongly on the grid in the initial stages of the season.
The team is sitting at the top place with 383 points in the 2011 constructors’ championship after completing 11 rounds of the season.
Both of the drivers Vettel and Mark Webber are moving in the right direction for their team from the start of the season. After getting very strong results so far, they are ready to fight in order to challenge this year’s title in the rest of the season.
The 12th round of the 2011 F1 season will start from Friday, August 26, 2011 at Spa-Francorchamps.
