Tom Dallas says he will knockout David Price despite being the underdog – Boxing news
Tom Dallas has admitted he is going into the ring as an underdog but will bring a surprise by knocking out David ‘Pricey’ Price.
Both undefeated pugilists will take on each other in the ring on Saturday, June 11, 2011 for the British Heavyweight title eliminator at Liverpool’s Olympia venue.
Price was previously scheduled against John McDermott but a throat infection forced McDermott to pull himself out just one week before the fight. Promoter Frank Maloney since then was searching for a potential opponent and finally found Tom Dallas, who has
also been David’s stable-mate.
Dallas, who has not trained seriously since he won against the American Zack Page in May 2011 at the Medway Park, knows he is going to enter the ring as an underdog but still the 26-year-old believes he can upset Price.
He told the media there will be no pressure on him and he hopefully will knockout the Liverpool’s orthodox, Price, in the ring. He added he would have not taken this fight but since it is a British title eliminator, he could not help himself out.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “I’m not going there to make up the numbers, I’m going there to win,” Dallas said. “I’m the underdog and I’m expected to lose, but all the build-up has been on him. I’ve just got to turn up, do the business and
hopefully knock him out.”
He added, “It’s a British title eliminator, so that’s why I took it. If I didn’t take this fight, when will I get another chance to fight for the British title? It might be another two or three years.”
Though Tom ‘The Bomb’ Dallas admired the punching power of Price, he said he knows all of his tactics, as he has been sparring with him for quite a time.
He commented, “I’ve got to go to him and I’ve got to keep my hands up because he can really punch hard. It helps having sparred with him a lot because I know what he’s like.”
