Tom George has high hopes from Mail De Bievre
Trainer, Tom George, is expecting some terrific performances from his challenger, Mail De Bievre, despite the fact that he is not amongst some of the top contenders for winning important races.
The eight-year-old gelding has participated in a total of 13 events until now, winning five of them, which shows that he is a consistent performer. Moreover, he has finished as a runner up on four occasions, which clearly indicates that he does not settle
for lower places easily.
He is a very good jumper, so most of his better performances have come in races over hurdles and fences. He has got a lot of experience, as he has been in the sport since December 2008.
On his debut, the French challenger was victorious, despite not being rated as the favourite to succeed. He was not rated as the favourite to claim the top spot back then, but delivered a strong show in the end, winning by a neck distance.
He has a few ups and downs in the next season, but managed to end it on a high. He kept on learning with the passage of time and made his team proud on numerous occasions. He has mostly thrived in difficult conditions, which shows that he does not give up
easily. Whenever there is a challenge for him, he makes his team proud with a spectacular performance.
However, the Cadoudal’s son might be a touch rusty at the moment, as he has not been involved in any action since 2011. His trainer does not see this as a problem though and expects him to succeed in the 2013 Betfred Gold Cup.
According to George, “Mail De Bievre is particularly exciting and has amassed over £300,000 in prize-money during his career in France. His latest win in April 2010 had a first prize in excess of £95,000 and had he not been injured, would almost certainly
have been odds-on for the Grand Steeplechase de Paris.”
He added, “He has come to us from connections we have done well for over the years. He hasn’t run for over a year, but he has been here for a while now and I am very pleased with his progress. He arrived in excellent condition having been in pre-training
with Chloe Roddick.”
